Breaking Barriers in Tech with the “100 Girls in Tech” Initiative
In today’s digital age, technology is transforming industries and reshaping economies worldwide. However, there is a glaring gender gap in the tech industry, particularly in developing countries like Nigeria. The “100 Girls in Tech” initiative, a collaboration between the Abiodun and Yinka Atobatele Foundation (AYAF), the Rise to Inspire Initiative (RIA), and supported by the US Consulate, seeks to change that.
This program is designed to empower 100 young women from Abeokuta with essential technology skills. Over six months, participants will receive hands-on training in web development, coding, data analytics, and digital marketing. They will also develop soft skills like communication, leadership, and teamwork — all crucial for excelling in today’s tech-driven world.
By breaking down the barriers that often prevent women from entering the tech field, the “100 Girls in Tech” initiative not only aims to close the gender gap but also foster a generation of women ready to lead and innovate in the digital age. With internship opportunities and real-world exposure, these young women will leave the program equipped to shape their futures and contribute to the growing tech economy in Nigeria.
